Aoi Tachikawa (立川 (たちかわ) あおい, Tachikawa Aoi) is a middle school student at Yotsuba University Affiliated Junior High School and a classmate of Mahiro Oyama, acting as the class representative of Class 2-B . She is also friends with Nemu Fujimi and Nodoka Fushimi.

Appearance

Aoi is a middle-school aged girl with navy blue shoulder length hair. Her hair parts to both sides in the front, with bangs dividing her face. She also has a small gold hairclip on the right side of her hair.

Personality

Aoi has been shown to have a immense attraction to "boy-love" (BL) and much like how Miyo Murosaki gets aroused by "girl-on-girl" situations, Aoi gets aroused by "boy-on-boy situations". Thanks to her family owning a bookstore, she gets to read all the yaoi manga that she wants. Due to a misunderstanding, the two each believed once that the other enjoyed the same genre and ended up forming an alliance due to a shared love of romance manga. This alliance collapsed though when it became clear that the two actually enjoyed the exact opposite genres, though the two still remained on somewhat okay terms.

Benefitting her posititon as the Class Rep, Aoi is extremely intelligent due to how much time that she spends reading. When discussing a love of manga with Miyo, she was able to have a deep conversation probing the ins and outs of various types of manga without giving away the specific genre she was discussing. Despite this, she has mentioned that when helping out at her family's bookstore she is of absolutely no help at the cash register.

Besides that, she is shown to be a good friend to Nemu Fujimi and Nodoka Fushimi.

Early Life

Aoi's family owns Tachikawa Bookstore. As a result, Aoi has been a bookworm since she was very young, regularly reading as many books as she can.

During grade school, Aoi was in the same class as Momiji Hozuki, Asahi Ōka, Nemu Fujimi, Nodoka Fushimi, Akira Nakai, Yuta Sakurada, and Minato Senkawa. On her first day, Asahi, who was attempting to make friends said good morning to her and Akira while they were walking. Aoi and Akira found Asahi to be a bit weird and did not reciprocate Asahi's offer of friendship and Asahi moved on without a fuss.

Eventually, Aoi got into Yotsuba University Affliliated Junior High School ending up in Class 1-B.

Etymology

• The name Aoi means:
  • "hollyhock, althea" (葵) (aoi).
  • an adjectival form of "green, blue" (碧) (ao).
• The name Tachikawa means "standing" (立) (tachi) and "river" (川) (kawa).
