Chitose Azuma (吾妻 (あずま) チ歳 (ちとせ) , Azuma Chitose) is Mihari Oyama's faculty advisor at Yotsuba University, as well as the older half-sister of Nayuta Tenkawa. She is the head of the Azuma Lab and according to Mihari, was responsible for perfecting the Feminization Drug that Mihari developed to turn her brother Mahiro Oyama into a middle-school aged girl. She has since been using Nayuta to keep secret tabs on Mahiro to fulfill an unknown agenda. She is voiced by Mayu Mashiro in the drama CD.

Appearance

Chitose is a tall adult woman with a slender frame. She has messy shoulder-length blonde hair that covers her ears with bangs. She has brown eyes and wears brown square-lens glasses with a rounded edge. She wears a black shirt and a white lab coat over it, and like Mihari is seen always wearing this lab coat, even during casual situations.

Personality

Chitose is dedicated to her research studies while exhibiting a playful side during social situations.

Chitose is extremely skilled when it comes to scientific chemical experimentation. As a result, her lab has developed multiple substances that would've otherwise proven impossible to create. Such substances that she's created personally are the Moustache Drug and Invisibility Drug, and she also made crucial contributions to perfecting Mihari's feminization drug.

Chitose is fully dedicated when working, and it is shown that she consumes massive amounts of energy drinks in order to power through her work. Despite this, she is shown to have a severe playful side as she like to sneak up on others and surprise them for her own amusement, as well as print her own special kinds of stickers that she gives out to people who impress her. She is also shown to be very caring as she takes care of Nayuta and they share a close relationship.

Although she helped Mihari perfect the feminization drug, she did not do it out of the kindness in her heart. She is in actuality working to fulfill an unknown agenda that doesn't involve Mihari. She is shown to be very interested in Mahiro, and will do anything to fulfill her plans, even if it means working behind Mihari's back or using Nayuta to help her. She is very eager to do this, as she was the one who dummied up Mahiro's identification documents so she could be enrolled at Yotsuba University Affiliated Junior High School. She has also pulled strings behind the scenes using her connections at Yotsuba University to ensure that all of Mahiro's friends remain in the same class as her during each year that Mahiro attends the school.

Similar to Mihari, Chitose has zero fashion sense as shown when she picked out a potential swimsuit for Nayuta. She completely favored practicality over fashion and had Nayuta try on a scuba outfit. Naturally, Nayuta discarded it in favor of a more traditional two-piece swimsuit recommended by Kaede.

Relationships

Nayuta Tenkawa

Chitose is Nayuta's older sister by a different mother. They share a close relationship, with Nayuta referring to Chitose with the honorific "onee-san" (おねーさん) which is typically used to refer to older sisters. She was concerned about Nayuta's lack of social skills and was happy to kill two birds with one stone by having her befriend Mahiro and her friends. She has since been very pleased that Nayuta is finally friends with people her own age, but is also still using her to fulfill her unknown agenda.

Mihari Oyama

Mihari and Chitose share a colleague-master-student relationship. Chitose likes to playfully scare Mihari from behind no matter how many times Mihari has told her not to. Other than this they get along quite well.

Chitose was the one responsible for perfecting Mihari's feminization drug and Mihari is very grateful to her for her help. However, Mihari is unaware about Chitose's secret agenda or the fact that she enrolled Nayuta in Mahiro's class to keep secret tabs on her, with Mihari seeing it as more of a coincidence.

Mahiro Oyama

When Mahiro first met Chitose, she had no idea that Chitose was responsible for developing the feminization drug. After figuring out, Mahiro was understandably suprised but seemed to accept it. Unknown to Mahiro, Chitose has been very interested in her from that start and is using Nayuta to keep secret tabs on Mahiro for an as-yet unknown agenda.

Early Life

Not much is known about Chitose's early life, but it is known that she eventually got a job as the head of a research lab at Yotsuba University in Onimai. At some point, she also started taking care of Nayuta Tenkawa. According to Mihari, she was essential to perfecting the feminization drug that Mihari eventually used on Mahiro.

When Mihari decided that Mahiro was finally socially stable enough to be enrolled back in middle school, Chitose used her connections at the college to enroll Mahiro at the connected Yotsuba University Affiliated Junior High School.

Shortly before the start of the new school year, Chitose asked Nayuta why she didn't hang out with any friends her own age. Nayuta simply stated that she didn't socialize well with people her own age, preferring adults, and only wanted to be Chitose's assistant. Chitose insisted that Nayuta was still too young for that, but Nayuta insisted that she wasn't.

Nayuta caught a glimpse of Chitose's research on Mahiro gathered from Mihari and took an interest in it. Seeing that Mahiro was technically an adult and might help Nayuta loosen up, Chitose told Nayuta that she could assist her on this special project and explained the truth about Mahiro to her.

Shortly afterwards, Nayuta was enrolled by Chitose at the same middle school that Mahiro attended, putting her in Class 2-B just in time for the new year.

Etymology

• The name Chitose means "thousand" (千) (chi) and "year" (歳) (tose).

Trivia

• According to Nekotofu, Nayuta's first name comes from Chitose since both names have a number in them.
