Mahiro and the Gatcha Game (まひろとガチャ, Mahiro To Gacha) is Chapter 8.5 of Onimai: I'm Now Your Sister. It was originally published in Doujinshi Volume 4 which was released on February 11, 2018.
Summary[]
Mahiro wants money to buy a random entry into a gatcha game, but Mihari will only give her the money if she leaves the house to buy it herself.
Plot[]
Mahiro is relaxing in her bed playing a mobile game. She remarks that she loves casual online games, as they're easy to get into and the content is endless. She says that it is perfect for an "own-home security guard" like her. She notes that she is strictly free-to-play, as she knows enough that whaling is a sucker's game.
She then recieves a ding and notices a limited-time summer fun banner event for a gotcha game, the event offering pictures of sexy girls in bikinis.
Mahiro gets on her knees and begs Mihari for ¥3000 for a single pull, pointing out that it is a sexy bikini event. Mihari is shocked at this, but decides to indulge her just this once much to Mahiro's joy. Mihari takes out the money, and Mahiro is extremely happy, telling Mihari that she knew she could count on her. She tells Mihari that she just has to buy a game card with the cash, but Mihari refuses. She tells Mahiro that if she wants the game card, she'll have to go outside and buy it herself, pointing out that they sell cards at the corner store.
Mahiro is scared, and begs Mihari to at least come with her. Mihari puts her foot down though and tells Mahiro that she's on her own for this. Mahiro tells her that she can't just leave a defenseless little girl to the wolves like that, calling her a heartless demon. Mihari is unfazed though, and pats Mahiro with the money pointing out that she won't get what she wants if she doesn't go.
Mahiro gives in and steps outside, still frightened, saying that she'll be right back. Mihari notes that gathca is truly a fearsome force and gives her mental support to Mahiro.
15 minutes later, Mahiro returns and Mihari asks her how it went. Mahiro holds up the card, and Mihari congratulates her which causes Mahiro to feel giddy as well. Mahiro cashes in the card and plays the draw. Unfortunately she fails to get any sexy bikini pictures and asks Mihari for one more try. Mihari just smiles and tells Mahiro not to press her luck.
Mahiro cries a bit, noting that she wants a swimsuit, and Mihari takes notice of that statement.

- As noted in the chapter, gatcha games are games where the player spends real currency for the chance to receive randomly selected digital items
- Banner events in said games are limited-time events in which specific characters or items are available.
- The gatcha game pull for ¥3000 is the equivalent of $23.07 USD.
- Although this chapter was not directly adapted in the anime, there are two lines that indicate the events of it still transpired:
- In "Mahiro's Close Encounter", the line where Mihari says that Mahiro wanted a swimsuit is retained, though it works without the context, presenting it more as if Mihari is lying in order to get back at Mahiro for her deadpan reaction to her swimsuit.
- In "Mahiro's New Friend", Mahiro mentions going to the corner store, even though she was never seen doing so, and also mentions how hard it was for her to do so. Both of these things line up with the events of the chapter.
