Summary[]
It's Valentine's Day, and there is plenty of chocolate to give and receive.
Plot[]
Mahiro is in her room getting ready for school when Mihari comes in and says hi to her. Mihari gives Mahiro a large bag, and Mahiro is surprised to find it full of chocolate. Mahiro remembers that it is Valentine's Day, and remarks that getting chocolate from your family is no big deal and that this is way too much. She takes a bite out of one, but Mihari yells for her to stop. She reminds Mahiro that since she's a girl now, she's now on the giving side this year, much to Mahiro's shock.
As Mahiro walks to school, she laments her current situation She notes that she can't believe this and calls it sad; having so much chocolate and needing to give it out to boys instead of eating it. She eventually encounters Kaede and Momiji, the latter of whom wishes her a good morning. Momiji gives Mahiro a small bag of chocolate candy saying that it's for her. Mahiro thanks her, then remembers that female friends can also swap chocolate. She gives Momiji some of hers in return and Momiji thanks her. As Mahiro celebrates, she thinks to herself how Mihari sure is a sharp one.
Kaede says that she may as well give Mahiro some too, and gives her a small bag of her special homemade chocolate. She admits that it's from the same batch as Momiji's, but Mahiro is amazed that it is handmade. Mahiro remarks that Valentine's Day is the best, and Kaede says that it was the first time that she and Momiji made chocolate together. She admits that Momiji asked for her help and as a result she was really touched. She wonders who all that effort was for, but Momiji, embarrassed, says that she's not telling.
At the school, Asahi and Miyo both give Mahiro their own chocolate. Mahiro says that she really appreciates it and gives them some of hers in return, after which they thank her. Mahiro notes that she is glad that they swap gifts today. Asahi adds that it means that they get to eat all kinds of different stuff, which Mahiro happily agrees with. Momiji notes that the two have no class.
Mahiro grins, noting that she still has plenty of Mihari's chocolate left. Seeing all the other girls in class giving chocolate to their friends, she quickly goes around to all of them and gives them some of Mihari's chocolate. By the end of it, Mahiro has a huge haul from everyone giving her some of their chocolate. Mahiro notes that she has raked it in and says that her spring has finally come, noting that if she was still a boy this would never happen.
As she thinks this, her eyes glance over to a corner of the room where all the boys in the class are gloomy for not getting any chocolate from the girls and try to ignore the idea of Valentine's Day at all. Mahiro is shocked, noting that it seems hellish over there. She refers to them as sad little creatures, but notes that she knows how they feel. She decides to show them a little mercy.
She walks up to Yuta and Minato's desk and gives them her last piece of Mihari's chocolate. The boys are stunned, but Mahiro tells them not to get any ideas, as she's doing it simply because they're classmates. The boys split the chocolate and enjoy it, while still claiming not to enjoy Valentine's Day. Mahiro notes that their reaction is very cute. Mahiro tells them that she doesn't need anything in return, thinking how gifts from boys aren't really her thing, and Yuta agrees.
Just then, several of the other boys swarm Mahiro, acting possessed and asking for chocolate as well. Mahiro is shocked, noting that they are all acting like zombies and empties her bag to show them that she's all out of chocolate. Hearing this, the boy zombies turn towards Yuta and Minato and demand that they give them the chocolate that Mahiro just gave them. Yuta tells them to stay back, and Mahiro is shocked that this happened because of her.
Satsuki and Minori get in front of Mahiro to protect her from the boy zombies. Satsuki tells Mahiro not to encourage them, saying that they're just dumb boys. Mahiro agrees, and Minori calls them the worst.
On the way home, Mahiro notes that Valentine's Day truly is a fearsome occasion. She admits that she wouldn't say this on any other day, but she's glad that she's a girl now. Looking at a piece of chocolate, Mahiro thinks that she should thank Mihari somehow. She thinks how she wants to return the favor, and that she guesses that even friendship chocolate is complicated. She sees that a local conviencience store is is hosting a Valentine's Fair, and gets an idea for a return gift.
Mahiro gets home and announces it. Mihari welcomes her back and asks her if she made a lot of chocolate trades. Mahiro slams her heavy bag on the table telling Mihari to check out her haul, and Mihari admits that she's kinda jealous. Mihari gives Mahiro one last box of chocolate, noting that the one from this morning didn't count. Mahiro is amazed to see even more, and in exchange gives Mihari a heart-shaped piece of chocolate that she bought on the way home. Mihari is so touched that she starts crying, noting that Mahiro surprised her. Mahiro tells her that there is no need to cry about it.
It is revealed that Miyo's chocolate was homemade as well, which caused Mahiro to panic when she received it.
