Miyo Murosaki

Miyo Murosaki (室崎 (むろさき) 美夜 (みよ) , Murosaki Miyo) is a middle school student at Yotsuba University Affiliated Junior High School and a close friend of Mahiro Oyama. She is also friends with Momiji Hozuki, Asahi Ōka, and Nayuta Tenkawa. She is voiced by Natsumi Hioka in the anime.

Appearance[]

Miyo is a tall girl with red eyes and long dark red hair that she keeps in two side pigtails. She is notably very developed as a woman for her age with a large bust and a very trim figure, though out of embarrassment she tries to hide it whenever possible.

When she was younger, Miyo wore her hair in the same style, but cut much shorter.

Personality[]

Miyo is a calm and collected individual. As a result, she appears to do well in school even if she is not the most athletic member of the group.

Miyo's biggest character trait is her absolute arousal of girl-on-girl (yuri) situations. Whenever she sees them in any capacity she becomes extremely aroused and gets all lovey-dovey at whoever is doing it. She even reads Yuri manga and dons disguises to go to bookstores to buy them. She is embarrassed by these outbursts and tries to keep it hidden, but everyone around her knows about it. She claims that she only enjoys watching it, saying that she's an observer and not a participant. However, she appears to enjoy being involved when her arousal levels from yuri reach their peak. She seemed extremely aroused after Mihari got drunk and supposedly kissed her after doing the same to Mahiro and Kaede, and later attempted to kiss Mihari after becoming overly aroused from a yuri game she bought. Mahiro notes that her spirit animal could be the rabbit due to her cuteness, and also due to the fact that she appears to get aroused 24/7.

It was later revealed that her yuri intuition is so strong that she can instinctively tell when it's not true girl-on-girl action, despite not understanding it herself. When Mahiro's "comrade" regrew in the middle of class, Miyo found herself not getting aroused by the usual antics of Momiji and Asahi getting close to Mahiro due to it not truly being girl-on-girl anymore, though she found herself confused and had no idea about the real reason why this was happening. The second that Mahiro's "comrade" disappeared and Mahiro became fully female again, Miyo once again found herself aroused much to her relief.

Besides that, Miyo is extremely embarrassed about developing as a woman so early. She doesn't enjoy being looked at and tends to wear baggy sweatshirts and track suits in an effort to keep her assets hidden. Despite this, she loves cute lingerie and was happy to go shopping for some with Mahiro after she also upgraded to full-cup bras (she was too embarrassed to go by herself). Over time, she has gained more self-confidence in her appearance after receiving advice from Kaede who also developed early, as seen when she decided to go for a more daring bikini during a beach trip.

Another running gag is that Miyo loves to cook but has zero skill for it, resulting in her food being inedible, though she is very knowledgeable about recipes in general due to her many hours in the kitchen. When it comes to cooking, her friends subtly give her simple tasks and tend to ask Kaede for help in order to prevent her from ruining what they are making. Despite this, Miyo is extremely talented in sewing and basket weaving and has even taught her friends these things. During the school's cultural festival, Miyo eagerly joined the group making the uniforms for Class 2-B's maid cafe, having had a long desire to learn how to make clothing, and did an amazing job as noted by her friends.

Miyo is the only member of her circle of friends to be an only child, and as a result she sometimes feels left out for not having any siblings.

Miyo's first encounter with yuri

Very little is known about Miyo's early life. Her first encounter with yuri came from reading a manga called Usuihon, which sparked a lifelong obsession with the genre that would only increase as she got older.

It has been mentioned that she went to a different elementary school than the one that Momiji and Asahi attended. She also started developing as a woman much earlier than her peers, though the exact period when this occured is unknown.

Eventually, she was able to get into Yotsuba University Affiliated Junior High School. At some point during the first two semesters of her first year, she met Momiji and Asahi. By currently unknown circumstances, she was accepted into their group and the three became a tight knit group of friends.

During the second semester of their first year, Momiji met Mahiro Oyama and starting telling Asahi and Miyo about her. The three soon planned to find an excuse for Mahiro to meet and hang out with all three of them.

Etymology[]

  • Although her first name Miyo (みよ) is always spelled in hiragana and hardly ever shown in kanji, Nekotofu has revealed that the kanji is meant to be 美夜, respectively standing for "beautiful" (美) (mi) and "night" (夜) (yo).[2]
  • Her last name Murosaki (室崎) means "room" (室) (muro) and "small peninsula" (saki) (崎).

Trivia[]

  • In the original Japanese version, Miyo refers to herself as わたし (watashi), a common first-person pronoun which is typically used by women.
  • A Twitter Q&A by Nekotofu stated that Miyo's birthday was on June 19. All other supplementary material including the chapter "2020 Summer Special Brochure" have listed it as being on June 18, meaning that he mistyped it in the Q&A.
