Nemu Fujimi

Nemu Fujimi (富士見 (ふじみ) 寧夢 (ねむ) , Fujimi Nemu) is a middle school student at Yotsuba University Affiliated Junior High School, a classmate of Mahiro Oyama, and friends with Nodoka Fushimi and Aoi Tachikawa. She sits at the desk in front of Mahiro's and is almost always seen sleeping through her lessons. She is also an avid online gamer under the username Shirayuki. She is voiced by Mia Sakurai in the anime series.

Personality[]

Not much is known about Nemu or her personality. She is almost always seen sleeping at her desk during her lessons and even during her final exams. Despite this, she is not a heavy sleeper as she was easily woken up when Mahiro Oyama bumped the back of her chair so she wouldn't sleep through the rest of the test.

Her actual academic performance is unknown, as well as how her sleeping affects it. She is resourceful though, as she is smart enough to bring a cardigan with her in the event that it becomes too cold.

During the rare moments when she is seen awake, she is shown to be very quiet and rarely talks to anyone. Her best friend is Nodoka Fushimi, though she appears to also be close with Aoi. Nodoka was seen watching her in the locker room during gym class. Nodoka and Aoi were also seen giving chocolate to Nemu on Valentine's Day. She also appeared grateful that Mahiro woke her up during their final exams. Asahi Ōka tried to befriend her in grade school to no avail.

It is later revealed that she is an avid MMORPG gamer, just like Mahiro. This partially contributes to her sleeping in class since she's tempted to pull all nighters playing online games just like Mahiro does. Mahiro befriended her in an online game by chance without realizing that it was her, though Nemu figured it out once Momiji also decided to try it out and used their real names. In sharp contrast to real life, Nemu is extremely talkative and friendly when playing with others online. Although she didn't reveal who she was, the fun she had playing with Mahiro and Momiji inspired her to finally talk to them in real life for the first time. She has also asked for Nodoka to join them as well.

During grade school, Nemu was in the same class as Momiji Hozuki, Asahi Ōka, Nodoka Fushimi, Akira Nakai, Aoi Tachikawa, Yuta Sakurada, and Minato Senkawa. On her first day, Asahi, who was attempting to make friends woke up Nemu at her desk to say good morning to her. Nemu was ultimately uninterested in being Asahi's friend and Asahi moved on without a fuss.

Eventually, Nemu got into Yotsuba University Affliliated Junior High School ending up in Class 1-B.

Etymology[]

  • The name Nemu means "sleep" (ねむ) (nemu).
  • The name Fujimi means "wealth" (富) (fu) and "samurai" (士) (ji) and "look" (見) (mi).

Trivia[]

  • Nemu's full name was first given during a blog post by Onimai: I'm Now Your Sister! author Nekotofu who gave it during a Q&A.
  • According to the afterword of Doujinshi Volume 9, Nemu is Nekotofu's favorite character from the series.
  • Nekotofu revealed Nemu's birthday on his Fanbox account on December 11, 2024. Before that, it was mentioned by Nodoka in "Mahiro and the Guidance of the Stars" that Nemu is a Sagittarius, which placed her birthday at some point between November 22 and December 21.
  • Even though Nemu's eye color is given as aqua-green in the anime, her character design on the cover of Doujinshi Volume 31 shows her with light blue eyes. Since this is actually a depiction of her Shirayuki persona though, this could account for the discrepancy.
