Raika Nanami (七海 (ななみ) 来夏 (らいか) , Nanami Raika) is Mihari Oyama's hairdresser at a local Hair Salon. She later becomes Mahiro's hairdresser on her first trip to the salon. She is also a former member of an idol group consisting of herself, Hiyori Hisaki, Tsurara Miwatari, and Momiji Hozuki. She is voiced by Elisa Kuto in the anime series.

Appearance

Raika is a tall woman, presumably in her mid twenties with long bright indigo colored hair that reaches her thighs and is ties off on the bottom with a black band, as well as gold colored eyes. She wears a baggy white short sleeved shirt, in the anime this includes a white band tied around the waist. In the manga, this also includes a dark vest without the white band. She also wears a long ankle-length brown skirt and carries a brown bag which hangs off her waist on the right side. She also has pointed teeth in her mouth which give off the appearance of fangs (much like Asahi), which are visible even when her mouth is closed.

Personality

Raika is a peppy and positive woman with a love for making idle chat with her customers and making them look pretty by styling their hair. While working on someone's hair, Raika tends to continuously engage them in small talk by asking them questions, even if the customer in question doesn't answer them. She also tends to tell the customer about her own life and makes recommendations about things that she's enjoyed. She always appears to be happy, and is never seen not smiling.

She also appears to be a bit innocent, as when she washed Mahiro's hair she accidently started rubbing her bust across Mahiro's face without realizing the implicit nature of it, much to Mahiro's delight.

Relationships

Mihari Oyama

Raika is very close to Mihari. Mihari is a regular at the salon, and Raika has referred to Mihari as one of her best customers. The two get along very well, having many of the same mannerisms and interests.

Mahiro Oyama

Upon learning that Mihari had a younger sister, Raika was excited to meet Mahiro and work on her hair. Mahiro finds her a bit much due to Raika's peppy and close nature contrasting her "own-home security guard" nature. She was left feeling woozy at all of Raika's attempts to make small talk with her, but was delighted when Raika inadvertently started rubbing her bust over Mahiro's face while she reached over to rinse her hair. Eventually, Mahiro had all she could take of Raika's small talk and took a nap to escape it. Raika didn't take this as an offence though, and gave Mahiro a perm while she slept. By the end of the visit, Raika was overjoyed to have met Mahiro and hoped to work on her hair again in the future.

Hiyori Hisaki

In the manga and anime, Raika appears in the background of several chapters and episodes hanging out with Hiyori. It is revealed in Collected Works Volume 2 that they are actually a couple.

Etymology

• The name Raika means "come, next" (来) (rai) and "summer" (夏) (ka).
• The name Nanami means "seven" (七) (nana) and "seas" (海) (mi).

Trivia

• Raika's name is not revealed in either the manga chapter or the anime episode she appears in. Her name comes from her appearance in Idol Stuff, a shelved series from 2014 also created by Nekotofu. In the anime episode where she appears, she is credited as "beautician".
• It is revealed that Raika and Hiyori are characters from a cancelled original manga Idol Stuff Nekotofu created and shelved in 2014.
