Rin Minakata (南方 (みなかた) りん, Minakata Rin) is Mahiro Oyama's Heath and Physical Education teacher at Yotsuba University Affiliated Junior High School. She is voiced by Yūki Yamamoto in the anime series.

Appearance

Rin is a tall and athletic young woman with long dark red hair that she keeps tied up in a ponytail. In her first appearance she was seen wearing a tracksuit. During swim class she wore a jacket over one of the school's one-piece woman's swimsuits.

Personality

Rin is an energetic and determined woman who loves athletics and works hard to get her students into shape to the best of her ability. Even though she does her best to push everyone, she is not entirely heartless. She is willing to let people sit out or leave early should an emergency arise, as shown when she let Mahiro not run laps and again when she let Mahiro exit the pool due to her supposedly getting her period both times.

Etymology

• The name Rin means "dignified, severe, cold" (凛) (rin).
• The name Minakata means "south" (南) (mina) and "direction" (方) (kata).

• Collected Works Volume 3 reveals that Rin is in a relationship with Yuriko Kitahara.
