The Truant Officer (補導員 (ほどういん) , Hodō-in) is a local truant officer who's job it is to roam the Arcade and locate students that have skipped school. He is voiced by Mitsuki Nakamura in the anime series.

Appearance

The turant officer is shown to be a tall and thin man with short dark brown hair, and glasses that obscure his eyes. He is shown to be wearing a white collared shirt with a green band on his arm that reads 'Truant Officer'.

Personality

He is shown to have a somewhat deadpan attitude, but also takes his job very seriously. Due to his method of pressing for questions that Mahiro couldn't answer, he came off to her as a bit frightening.

History

When Mahiro visits the Arcade and begins playing a rhythm game in "Mahiro's Little Adventure", he believes her to be a student who has skipped school and begins to watch her. Mahiro caught him out of the corner of her eye, and believed that he's a stalker who preys on unsuspecting girls.

Eventually, he put his hand on Mahiro's shoulder to talk to her, causing Mahiro to get frightened. He then proceeded to ask Mahiro what her name and class was, and what school she went to. Mahiro had no way to answer as she didn't go to school as of yet.

Eventually, he let Mahiro go, but not without leaving her so frightened that she refused to leave the house again for awhile.

Trivia

• The Truant Officer's name is never revealed in either the manga or the anime. In the anime, he is credited as 'Counselor'.
