Yuta Sakurada (桜田 (さくらだ) ゆうた, Sakurada Yuuta) is a middle school student at Yotsuba University Affiliated Junior High School, a classmate of Mahiro Oyama, and the best friend of Minato Senkawa. He is voiced by Rena Aoshima in the anime series.

Personality

Yuta is a middle-school aged boy who loves playing video games, just like his best friend Minato. Both boys are also in love with Mahiro Oyama who shares their interest, though neither is aware of her true identity. The two have a longstanding desire to go out with Mahiro, and there appears to be an unspoken agreement between the two that they would each be happy with the other if one of them gets to date her.

For a long time, there was not much in the way to differentiate the two in terms of personality. However, it has been shown that Yuta is the more masculine of the two as he always uses male avatars in the games he plays, and he was eager to change out of the maid uniform he was forced to wear for the maid cafe that Class 2-B put on during the cultural festival. By contrast, Minato plays female characters in the games he plays and actually didn't want to stop being a maid when the cultural festival was over.

Early Life

During grade school, Yuta was in the same class as Momiji Hozuki, Asahi Ōka, Nemu Fujimi, Nodoka Fushimi, Aoi Tachikawa, Akira Nakai, and Minato Senkawa. At some point later, he and Minato played a game of soccer with Momiji and Asahi where Yuta acted as his team's goalie. Asahi scored the winning kick despite Yuta's best attempts to stop it. Despite this, he and Minato didn't let losing get them down.

Eventually, Yuta got into Yotsuba University Affliliated Junior High School ending up in Class 1-B.

Etymology

• The name Yuta means:
  • "excellence, superiority, gentleness" (優), "permanence" (悠), or "brave"' (勇) (yu) combined with
  • "thick, big, great" (太) (ta).
• The name Sakurada means "cherry blossoms" (桜) (sakura) and "field" (田) (da).
